To My Husband

I say that I don’t want to talk about it. Actually I do, but I’m afraid of your reaction.

Afraid that you’ll never see me as an equal again.

I’m afraid of the pity in your eyes when you realize how screwed up I am.

  1. My husband, I think, is in denial towards the fact that I have mental and chronic illnesses. He says he understands but how can he really understand if he doesn’t take the time to really listen to what I am trying to tell him about myself? Is it fear? Is he too scared or not equipped to handle it all?
